There are quite a few people in our industry who are trying to level up their business with an advisory role and yet they don’t have their ecosystem in place yet. This is a tricky scenario that often results in overwhelm.
If you want to take on an advisory role in your business, I cannot stress enough how important it is to have your ecosystem in place first!
Once you have your ecosystem completed, you will finally manage to get off the rollercoaster you have been riding for quite some time. You know, the one that has you dealing with all of the compliance work, as well as those clients who do not match your dream client qualities.
What is Included in the Advisory Role?
As an advisor, you must take the time to analyze your client’s books and complete a little prep work. After that, it will be time to schedule a meeting, create a strategy, and then have a follow-up meeting. This cycle will continue with every client, which is why it is imperative to have your ecosystem in place before you begin advising any of your clients.
Creating Your Ecosystem
Creating your ecosystem is going to take some time. I recommend beginning by blocking time every day or even once or twice a week. These time blocks will allow you to complete every actionable step you need to do in order to reach your goal of having an ecosystem in place.
Starting Your Advisory Roll
As soon as your ecosystem is in place, you can utilize time blocking to ensure you have everything ready for your new role. This time will be used to ensure you have a team to take care of all of the compliance work, as well as those items you no longer have the time for. You can even schedule time blocks for team meetings, networking, and so much more.
I know you are ready to stop working nights and weekends, but you must approach your new role the right way. If you don’t have your ecosystem in place quite yet and are starting to advise clients, you are going to underdeliver. I always say it is always better to over-deliver to your clients because they are the ones who will sing your praises to potential clients in the future.
So, get your ecosystem ready before you begin your advisory role and see how much better your business runs in the future.
